“Recently Cloudnine was supposed to have a UA meeting and they specified that they won’t go ahead without me being a part of it. That’s the day I understood what it means to add value”,says Thiru.

Moolya has been testing for Cloudnine, India’s leading maternal care chain since 2018.They have a series of apps catering to doctors, patients, and nurses. Over the years, Moolyans have maintained the ease of using these apps through multiple cases of automation and manual testing.

Thiru joined Moolya as an intern in 2021. He began his journey by learning automation testing in his first project. In July 2021, he was trained by a senior to replace her at the Cloudnine project.It was a new realm for him. Apart from exploring and finding bugs by himself, he also had regular customer interactions. The biggest catch in it all? He was the only tester handling the project.

“I was hesitant to give the project to Thiru initially. I was worried that it was highly customer facing, and didn’t know if he’d be able to handle the pressure. Thiru took his time to adjust andgrow with the project. I was there to support him at each step but the credit goes to him. Not only is he a good test engineer but he’s built a great rapport with the Cloudnine team. Thiseases out his work”, says Bhavana, Delivery Manager looking over the project.

Recently, Thiru got lauded by the Product Manager at Cloudnine for identifying issues which were missed.

“There was an issue with BP readings which went unnoticed. On running an iteration, it said that 2 out of 10 readings were incorrect. The screen would be blank or have only half BP readings.It’s risky for patients and can lead to incorrect patient data being recorded. I found and communicated the issue to the team immediately.

Apart from this, another major issue which went unnoticed, was illegible prescriptions. Cloudnine has two ways of recording prescriptions - handwritten and typed for print. While there are options to switch both, the written prescriptions were becoming illegible with overwriting.Because prescriptions are medico-legal documents, this is a huge risk. This was a random issue which wasn’t there in production or dev, but I’m glad I found it and that it’s fixed now.”

For Moolyans, adding value is greater than anything. Being a good test engineer doesn’t come naturally to anyone, it’s all about the environment test engineers are grown in.
